Kent Anthony’s collection was inspired by his experience in track and field. The collection consisted of classic garments in white, black, and shades of blue inspired by the sky that looms large over the open track. It consisted of a handful of looks in an androgynous-70s kind of silhouette; marked by pants that flare at the bottom, and shoulders that are strong and boxy– without leaning into caricatural territory. The collection was titled Make ‘em Say Your Name, a refrain Anthony learned from his track and field coach LaTanya Sheffield. This is perhaps why the collection looked almost autobiographical like each outfit could have been designed for the designer himself. Anthony was dressed in flared trousers and a t-shirt, and could easily pass as one of the models.

This was also a moment for Anthony, a multi-disciplinary artist, to demonstrate his various masterful talents. He showcased a range that included hand-embroidered shirts, a t-shirt with a hand-painted cat, or a jacket with intricate hand-done beadwork arranged to reflect the design of a track field– each bead is unique, and no two beads are alike. Here is a designer with a clear vision, and the knack for creating clothes that will rouse confidence in its wearer to Make ‘em Say Your Name.
